 So my caucs have been in my Quarantine tank for about a week. Today I saw a bunch of white little dots on the back wall of the tank and when I looked closely...I think they maybe eggs. The female has not moved from that location and has been guarding them pretty fiercely.

I am attaching two pics, what do you guys think.......Where is the Apisto God, Mooman...Mooman what do you think. :)

Yeah, it looks like they laid eggs (told ya they were easy). Depending on what the female was conditioned on (food) they can be red to pink to cream colored. Completely white and opaque would mean infertile eggs. Move that male out of her side of the Q-tank. When those eggs hatch (or even before) she will turn extremely protective, and in too small a space might kill the male (that's what happened to Kyle). When they hatch, let the female gaurd them for a few days (or weeks), and feed them baby brine shrimp (I can get some to you). You can grow them up in your q-tank or give them to me if you don't want to be bothered. I would personally grow them up to about 1/3 in and then release them into your tank. With as many plants as you have I would not be surprised if a few survived. That way you won't have to keep buying cacatuoides every couple years. :)

BTW Zman is the real apisto God, I'm more of an apostle

Guess I need to buy another divider for the Q-tank. Hinduism has many Gods, so can the Apistos, you and Z Man both.

Update...all but one of the eggs disappeared. Could the pair have eaten them up? They did look opaque last night, then again the lights in QT are not the best.

Sometimes females will eat them just because they are inexperienced (although cacatuoides are usually pretty quick to "get it right"). Feed the female a variety of frozen stuff and she'll probably spawn again in a couple/few weeks (sometimes even sooner with cacatuoides). That's a bummer man.

you are absolutely correct Z-man. Mike knows his apistos like no one else, and he will always take the time to answer a post, even if it has been asked a hundred time before. A class act for sure.

Wildcats, you're more like an acolyte. :D
