Made a thread the other day about my Angel Fish Spawn: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97290

Well, it seems they are hatching!

Got 3-4 down on the bottom of the tank (detached from the filter intake) with a thread like appendage, just wiggling away every so often. The rest of the spawn has been moving on the intake for the last day.

This is in the new 10 gallon with seasoned sponge filter and air bubbler (as per several sources on the web) see pics in other thread.

How soon to see fishies?

As I recall reading, don't have to feed for 3-4 days as they will live off the egg yolk?

I'm jazzed! First time for baby fishies (have raised 5-6 clutches of Brig snails, but this is somewhat different!)

if you are hatching bbs get the hatchery going now.
they wil be hatched out and ready to feed to the freeswimmers.
also look at the free swimmers to see if they have lost the egg sac.
start feeding them when this happens..usually best to give them several small feedings per day.

Agreed, need to start hatching BBS now because they take 2 days to hatch and there can be a bit of a learing curve to hatching and harvesting effectively. If you do not use live bbs then I would not expect a very high survival or growth rate. You might get a few survivers with frozen bbs.

just crush up some flakes, no need for bbs

they're ready to feed when they're free swimming, which should happen in 2-3 days

Newly hatched angels will almost never take non live food.

I second that..I couldn't get mine to take first bites(powered)
but they gobble up BBS
