power went off yesterday. about 10 mins later heard water dripping it was running out of filter, is this normal? p.s it doesnt leak while the power is on.

It should never leak. The seals should keep it tight. You may have had an instance where the suction was keeping it from leaking and the power outage let that suction go.

I have 2 Eheim Pro II 2026. One has been running for over 6 years and having co2 pushed through it. This year the same problem began for me. Running it is sealed fine, but if I turn it off water begins seeping out the back.

I have tried everything including replacing the sealing gasket and changing up the piece that connects the hoses to the filter and putting vaseline on the seal- with no luck.

The solution is simple. When I need to turn off the power during weekly prefilter rinsing, I just open the shut off/disconnect to stop the water coming from the tank. This prevents the leaking. When done I close it back up and plug it back in.

The problem only happens on one of the two filters.

I forget which gasket it is but supposedly one of the main gaskets on the proII is not suppose to be user-serviceable and replacements arent available from eheim. On another forum there was a group buy for o-rings made to these custom specs. Just curious if this might be whats causing your leak. And FWIW I think there is yet another group buy on it... http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/equipment/43083-group-buy-eheim-rubber-o-ring.html

filter leaking

any idea just how much water can leak out?

i also had 2 pro2 2026 filters and both leaked badly after a while. i think these filters are more name than quality. turned out to be the piece that joins the hoses to the filter canister. 35 dollars each. i would not buy eheim again. their prices are a bit outrageous too.
