Yes, they are a good pump...easy to clean aswell...

Im not sure if i have that filter, on mine it says "eheim, propfessional 11" but mines good, it's a got a heater built in to it.

well, as quiet as an external filter unit can be...just get the usual low hum noise, nothing obtrusive though..

I've got a chance to get one pretty cheap. My HOB filter that I'm using now. Is making quite a bit of noise. Since the tank is in the living room with the TV, I'd like something as quiet a possible.

How much live rock do you have in the tank and how big is the tank?

I've got about 30 lbs in a 55. I know I need more. Just working up to it. Right now I've got 6 snails, 6 crabs, and 1 clown fish.

another alternative is to spend the money that you were going to use to buy the filter, and build up the live rock level..Because if you have an adequate ammount of live rock, you dont need to have a filter....
