I recently (about a week ago ) set up an Eheim 2213 on my 15 gallon planted. Set up was simple (much easier than I thought it was going to be) and it's running fine.

Yesterday I had to tinker with the filter media. Ever since there has been a periodic (more or less random, no more frequent than every 20-30 minutes) jet of bubbles that get passed through the filter. Is this normal? Does it take more than a couple hours to get whatever air is in there out? Or is there an air leak somewhere that I should be looking for?

Other than the bubbles the filter is working wonderfully, no sound or leaks or anything like that.

It sounds like you make be sucking air in somewhere. Try giving the filter a couple shakes to dislodge the air pocket. If it continues to spit bubbles, check all your connections to make sure they are snug.

If you've opened it up to check the media, some air must still be stuck inside. as dudley said, give the canister a shake or two (or three) to get them out. Should resolve itself in a few moments.

i think that's what it must have been. it hasn't done it in a while. the period between the bubbles has slowed down, so it just be that there's some air in there and it's taking its sweet time working its way up to the top :hitting:

thanks :)
