eheim 2215 VS fluval 305. HELP?!?

I solved this perceived concern in my Fluval by using some 1/16 inch neoprene material from an old water ski suit and cutting a small donut O-ring gasket and placing it between the top basket and the outflow port. This gaskets simply compress when the filter is put together eliminating any possibility of bypass from the two possible major source the lid seal between the inflow and outflow ports and top basket. The tiny amount of bypass between the baskets is negligible and no worse the between any of the medium side stacked filters including Eheim.

However the FX5 is the first basket canister filter to place an O-ring between each basket.

I've owned both eheim and fluval filters and in my experience eheim is a higher quality product. They are easier to put together and to do maintenance on. Although I think that fluval fx5 is a great filter as well. I picked one up with a recent tank purchase and have no complaints about it in the last 4 months. Any of the other fluval models I would stay away from. Just my $0.02
