I'm experiencing a bit of a problem with my Eheim. The pump sounds like it's making air bubbles (sounds like carbonation in soda, basically). About once every 30-45 minutes, it'll sound like a 747 taking off for a few seconds and just spew out a massive amount of air.
I've tried to check all the hose connections to make sure everythings nice and tight, but I just can't figure out what the problem is. Is there anything I should do or check?
Thanks!

I've cleaned the media container and the canister itself pretty well on a regular basis. I haven't touched the inner workings (the impeller and the stuff that you need to get a screwdriver for). I'll have to look at that tommorow then. Might be a piece of java moss stuck in it or something.

what model do you have?

I have a eheim 2227 wet dry and if the intake gets blocked ( i leave the sponge on it because of all the plants) it makes a loud fizzing noise. I would be willing to be that something has lodged in the intake.

If that does not fix the problem it will probably be the impeller, the way mine is built is that the impeller rides on a shaft that is centered with 2 eraser shaped rubber caps, my bottom cap was off the shaft when i received and it made a terrible noise. it took me like 3 days to figure it out.

I you want pm me, i can go into more detail.

If you've opened it recently there will be air bubbles in the media. Just give it a good shake and rock it back and forth til all the bubbles are gone. thats what i do with mine.

Check your hoses.

I had a similar thing with my 2213. The periodic jet thing was actually good because steady impeller chatter was the alternative. I became convinced it had something to do with the flow through. I had an inline reactor placed after it: I recently replaced it with a new design that has better flow through but I don't think that was actually the problem…

I think it was kinks in the hoses.

I straightened them out and shortened them up at the same time I redid the reactor. It was one or the other… its quieter than ever, no more chatter, no more revving.

I have a Eheim 2217. I heard the same noise that you were hearing and was confused until I figured out my problem. I used a piece of nylon stocking as a pre-filter and it had totally clogged up, the filter wasn't pulling in any water.

Try and check the hoses for any blockage.

yup all i do is shake that thing couple times and also unplug and plug it back in. thats the way i fix it and works all the time.
