I just received my new(this filter) filter and I have some questions. The instructions do not give a lot of info ( in English)
I purchased the Ehiem ecco 2234 over the classic because the seller advertised an adjustable flow rate….. There is nothing in the directions about adjustable flow rate.
Can I adjust the flow with the shut off valves?
Is there any harm in running a filter rated for 60 gal in a 29 gal tank?
I am currently terrible under filtered with a whisper 20 HOB. The only media in the filter is white floss.
Can I simply place the old floss in the new filter until the new media is seeded or should I run both filters for a wile simultaneously?
The new filter comes with a white and blue sponge pre-installed in one chamber, 2 empty chambers and 2 bags of small “bio balls” clay I assume.(and a carbon pad I wont use but will save)
Do I need to fill all three chambers?
Should I use both bags of bio-balls or split one bag between the two chambers and save some of the media?
If the aggregate media are bio balls do I save that stuff indefinitely and do I replace the sponge/floss periodically?
I wonder if I should have ordered the classic instead of the ecco.
Thanks,
Tony.
