Eheim Jager questions

Thanks so much guys. I installed them last night - trying to get temp adjusted "perfectly" now. Seem like nice heaters - just wonder why they felt the need for such...substantial... cords. I don't think I have anything that runs INside the house that has these thick, fat cords! But anyhow - I've got one on a slight angle, and one totally horizontal - and the worrisome Stealths out and on their way back to Marineland so I can get my refund. Thank you guys!

Just FYI - finally got an e-mail back from Eheim and they said:

EHEIM recommend to install the unit vertically as this can preserve the seals for a longer period of years. Installing the unit horizontally is also possible and will not affect the overall performance of the unit. All EHEIM JAGER heaters have always been fully submersible. In the past units were not labeled as not fully submersible as at the time we were waiting for "UL" certification.

So thanks again everyone!

Saje, thanks for posting the Eheim response regarding horizontal installation. I had a feeling it might somehow be related to the seals they use to prevent water from getting into the electrical controls.
