I have a Eheim Pro II 2026 that is about 3 months old at most. The problem I am having is that the impeller has started making noise while running. When it was new you couldn't even hear it run. I have taken it apart and cleaned the impeller and ceramic shaft along with all of the other parts.

After putting it back together and priming the filter and then plugging it in, it sounded fine. This lasted about a day, then the noise came back. It almost sounds like there is an air pocket that is trapped around the impeller. Is there anything I can do to check and see if this is the problem or something else could be the cause of this noise.

Thanks for the help.

Make sure none of the parts are broken or missing first of all. If everything is fine, then try lubricating the impeller and shaft with aquarium-safe Silicon Lubricant.

Take it back and get a new one if the noise dont go away.

little ball?

Could it be the little ball? A lot of people have taken the flow indicator ball out, as it will make noise after it wears unevenly.

I believe Eheim has replaced this ball with a red cylinder on the newer units. I have two 2028s, with the second one bought having the cylinder. I haven't had a noise problem with the ball on my older unit yet.
