nm.
on the bottom of a live rock I found several of these [pod] looking things. They are large about 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches! There white in color and oval in shape. anyone know what these scary looking things are? I am new to this and need your help! please! Dont know how to post a pic so sorry my discription is soo lousy.

sounds like an amphiopod... but are you sure that isnt an exaggeration? did you mean cm? lol. even mysis shrimp dont get that big. how frequent are their sightings? a pic would help for a positive ID.

are they moving things or do they protrude from the rock? Might be Pineapple sponges.

what are these things?

just think of my shock! No that size isn't an exaggeration. They are firmly on the underside of this large rock. If I magnify them with a lens I notice that they have an allmost grid like design covering them. I am going to look-up a pineapple sponge. Wow, sponges ,do you know,:dance2: if they are pineapple sponges if they are a good thing to have? I did find two small bubble head's on this rock too.

they sound like chitons.
do they look sort of like this?

oo. good guess on the chitons.
maybe even a large limpet?

ehhh

Thanks, will look up limpet, am sure its not a chiton though. Since I have turned the rock to where it is exposed to much more light, they are getting smaller in size. The real small one is allmost gone. Will be putting the rock in quaratine tank to try and get rid of some aptasia and will get a better look at those things and remove if need to. Thanks again!

wait.... they havent moved but are getting smaller? so are they pods or not? that description makes it sound like they are sessile.
i think we are going to need a better description than "oval in shape and white" lol. perhaps they are a jewel anemone if they are sessile and havent moved. but a better description would help :P
or perhaps another white branching sponge
