need a new filter... any input?

says its good up to 80g. i want it for my 55g. anyone use it before?
i'm currently using an eheim proII. it's a little old and i question the flow on it.

would you switch to the ecco? or use the proII? which is better?

i would keep using what you have clean the tubing and impellar and you should be good to go.

I really like the ECCO filters but I don't think it is good enough for a 55g unless it is really really lightly stocked. I would use it as a secondary filter on a tank that size.

ok.
the pro 2 has been cleaned out and i'm still not very satisfied with it. i would like to put it on my 29.

what would you recommend for a 55g?

With what you have already I think adding a Hot Mag would be the ticket as they are way underrated on flow and cleaning ability. But so versatile you can hook up vac attachment, its portable (no hoses) for easy cleaning and becasue it's out flow sits higher then most it can double as a powerhead when the bottom elbow is removed it pushed allot of bubbles strait down into the tank if desired.

You could use an eheim 2217. I have a 2215 and a fluval 35 on my 46 gallon bowfront. I added the eheim 2215 after i got the fluval, and i now wished i would have gone with just the 2217. In comparison, the eheim has 10x the filter media, comes with a spray bar, and is over all a better filter. It is also about 50 dollars less than the fluval. Granted, the fluval is a nice filter, but definately not enough by itself. Just my 2 cents

For the record I love to over filter my tanks. I run a proII 2026 and a 2236 on my 55.
The 2026 could handle my 55 easily the 2236 on the other hand could not IMO.
Together they are awesome!
