Well, Well Phoenix, arent we standoffish!
Lets see, I guess I'll start with Im surprised you haven't heard newbs referring to EI as Each Individual, then again you only frequent this site, hmm...and I just lost 2500 real posts on another site, so Ive heard alot. IME
Also If you notice, number 4. says "extra" as KNO3 and KH2PO4 is NOT a sufficient supply of potassium... IME..
Then again I use Very high lighting, and pressurized co2, and have have to throw plants away weekly, because im guessing at this game...
I can get cheaper ferts, from GLA, and I would never trade my relationship with O, for any other company! They have the best customer service and overall knowledge of the product they sell. Period! ALSO IMO/E...
If you need to see the mathematically intense reasoning behind the science PMDD testing and adjusting, and not this, IMO PMDD does this or PMDD is that, IMO YOU SHOULD READ THIS FIRST!
And Im sorry, but measuring(wieghing) fert and mixing a solution to measure in ml's is far more accurate to reach target ppm, than your, "throw some in the tank" dry dosing,... and you get a more consistent dispersal throughout the water column using a solution. IME
I frequent barrreport.com - most of my knowledge of our hobby comes from Tom... and the many other people who have made this hobby as popular as it is becoming today!
I have spent hundreds of hours researching MY hobby, and will post my first hand experience freely!
And whats with the picking apart of my post? Are you feeling angry? I have sent you a friend request as, I got the feeling after reading your post, that you need a friend... I'll be your friend, but you should know, I shoot from the hip, and say what I feel! Can you accept that and be friends? (holds hand out to shake)
Accept or reject...
In My Opinion(IMO)

P.S. I am sorry you got mad! can you forgive you?:argue:
Orlando is a good guy, nice too.
Adding extra K2SO4 is fine, I add it also, but it's in a mix of GH booster, which is 50% K2SO4, so it's added weekly.
Adding more GH and K+ has no ill effects.
Both have a long history of dosing.
A small group claimed issues with these a few years back, some still claim Ca, K, Mg play some central role in algae or plants etc, but I've never seen or been able to verify any of it, and I've falsified the claims/hypothesis several times and on quite a few aquariums.
Newbies rarely have such luxuries to draw upon from experience.
Very high lighting might be or might not be.........without knowing more, light bulb brand and type etc........often is asking for trouble. I test but I only need to test the tank 1x, maybe 2-3x over a decade. This is one place using less is wise. It drives CO2 demand and nutrient demand, so I have more wiggle room if I use less, and lower electrical bill/cost etc.
CO2 is much easier to manage. Plants do very very well also.
You can still chose to have higher light, you can also chose to dose daily via liquids, EI has a version of that, but many did not like the liquid ppm and mls thingy either when I suggested EI, those that already did PMDD simply added KH2PO4 in another bottle and dosed that.
As light intensities and efficacy went way up from 1995-1998 to PC, then lately with T5's, the watts needed have gone down by over 1/2.
3-4 W gal on 55 gal using T12's is about 1.5 w/gal of T5's.
I'd suggest not taking anything personal, debates are good, as long as you stick to the topic, not the person. Never heard folks say EI was Each individual, but I got no qualms with it either.
Call it whatever you want, as long as it helps folks and gets the job done.
regards,
Tom Barr
