Electric Blue Rams?

I've also seen these locally at $20 a piece and they looked faded and blotchy nothing like the pic. I'm wondering if the blue will fade with time similar to the original hormone feed pigeon blood Discus sold as super reds once upon a time.

yea, i've seen the gold variation. I just can't figure out what the appeal of these are when the original strain is so colorful. With the Jack Dempsey the electric blue variation really pops. I'm surprised Oscars haven't gotten the electric blue treatment yet.
Considering oscars don't really have any blue in them naturally, I don't see it happening. I have seen reds that were about as red as that ram is blue.

I also don't really see the appeal of these or the golds. When the natural color has really nice blues, golds, reds, pinks, oranges, etc. Why get rid of these for a single solid color?...and don't even get me started on the body morphs...

is this a dyed ram?

I'm not too crazy about it either

No, I would think these are legit, not dyed because the store i was at is very high-quality LFS. they are pretty selective about what they buy.

How much do those usually cost??? I like the regular's a lot better personally!

I believe these were $35 a piece, however like i said above this store is high-quality and their prices reflect that.

yea, i have to agree. The original colors and markings are so nice I just don't see the novelty of these strains.

When I got home from the store I looked at my female GBR, who showed me her best color and extended fins like she knew I was checking out the blue ones at the LFS (but she was probably just hungry) I told her I like her better :D

which LFS in Chicago? I've been looking for a new one to check out.

That fish in the pic does not look very healthy. Our LFS had them for 40 bucks apiece. No way am I paying that money for a ram that is less pretty than GBRs and will probably die within a month.

Ok. That exact Aquarium Adventure is the main LFS I visit but I just learned about Olde Town and now I'm just waiting to get some time to head over there. Thanks!

yea, that's the best place with the best deals as far as I'm concerned. as for Olde Town store, it's small but they carry high quality livestock and their prices most certainly reflect it! big money!
