electric yellow = lab? usually right?

The red zebra can also be yellow (tangerine morph) and is occasionally mis-labeled as Electric Yellow. They are not a brite yellow nor do they have any black markings. They do have faint vertical bars on them.

Sometimes sub-females will be absent of any black markings as well. They are not a hybrid as such and are natural fish from Lake Malawi. That doesn't meant that there aren't any hybrids out there, just that they once were bred from some original fish from the lake. I have 7 of them and they are indeed very bright yellow with the males having a very contrasting black markings.

The odd thing is that fish-wise, this is a pretty good LFS. so it's a little weird that they get these particular "labs"-- they don't claim that they're lab. caer., though. it also sort of bothers me that they mark the whole cichlid section as "brackish", and keep monos and scats nearby. but that chemical discussion is worth another thread.

anyhow, i've got my own lab breeding program well underway currently.
