I did get the new pump today. I checked the ohms and all was good. I plugged it in and checked the water and NO voltage was seen. I'll know soon if that was the problem.

what are you using to test for chlorine, and what were you using as dechlorinator?

I have used a pool clorine test kit. The declorinator is a dry white powder only removing clorine from a fish store here. I'll get the exact name today.

Well, my theory was tenuous at best, now proven wrong. Very sorry about your animals. That stinks. I would really suggest trying Randy's forum over at Reef Central. He's a real chemist, and would probably enjoy the challenge.
