Hi Guys,

A few questions.
I really want to get an elephant nose and a black ghost knife. I was just wondering if anyone knows if these two can be kept in the same tank together. I have a 46g bow, sand substrate, lots of plants and hiding spaces. Water quality is good. pH is 7.3, ammonia, nitrate, nitrites are 0, hardness is about 6dgh.
Any input is greatly appreciated!

I don't think you'll have any problems. Put a piece of PVC pipe in there if you get them thats big enough for the fish to hide in.

Silly, its a 46 gallon! :D

but I think that the ghost is also too small for a 45.

I MEAN A 46 gallon! err....im such a hippocrate

both of these fish are 'electrical' fish using a mild sonar to navigate and search for prey. They would not survive together in 46g, because they're navigational systems would cross and cause them confusion that could lead to one or both starving to death. 46g could house one elephant nose by itself. Beware that the elephant nose will eat small fish.

Thanks guys!

I'm going to go with the Elephant nose, but before I do, can anyone tell me anything more about them? I have done some research and know a little about them, but I just want to make sure I have the right setup and tank mates for them.
I already have a couple Angels, 3 clown loaches, 1 flame gourami, 1 killifish, 2 rubber-lipped plecos, 1 pleco that looks like a zebra pleco, but is a caramel and black colour and then 1 type of Synodontis, looks like a Featherfin, but I know it's not that. Will get about 6 inches.
46 gal tank
Sand bottom
lots of driftwood and plants
pH is 7.3
temp is 78F

That's my setup as of now. Any helpful hints or suggestions and info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks a bunch!
Candice

I wouldn't add any more large fish to the tank--it's quite close to maximum capacity as is.

Yeah, the elephant nose would be the last addition to my tank.

You will need to find rocks to make caves or put pvc piping in your tank. I have a BGK and it is really happy with the rock cave i made for him. I believe the elephant nose, like the BGK hate to be out in the light, so untill it is comfortable in the tank, you need to provide some type of escape from the light.
