Thanks for the advice! These are black moors (not comets or anything) so not sure if they will be safe with WCMM forever but it has worked well for a few months now. I have the same 11 (one jumped out during feeding and became carpet jerky
) that I've had since October, and that was in a 29 gallon tank. They are lovely in the 55, I'd like to get another five or so, but am watching them closely as the black moors get bigger.
Before I resort to scrubbing, I'm going to try that silicate absorbing resin idea. One reason I don't want to scrub is that I can actually see green algae growing in with the diatoms, and I'd love to have some green algae to soften the white rocks
I'll let everyone know how it works out, I'll probably try the Chemi-Pure Elite first.
On a side note, anyone have any Najas grass they can spare? I'm thinking maybe just maybe it is goldfish safe...
