I just put my betta in the 29 gallon tank. He seemed shy at first until the swordtail came around. He layed on the ground for a few minutes. Also they sort of pecked at his tail. Then he started flaring at the swordtail whenever he came around. Now he is flaring at the tetras...only when they get near this rock. Should I keep him in for a while longer or take him out????

meh, he will challenge anyone thinking they are another male I think, LEave him be, As long as noone challenges back he will be fine

alright. none of them are fighting back. Will this stress out the fish?

Otherwise he seems to be ok in the tank.

It's up to you...but if it was me.....and my betta was getting pecked at by the tetras and flaring at the swordtail, I'd take him out because I'd be worried.....actually I tried introducing a betta to my tank a few weeks ago, left him in for a day and he was flaring at everything- the aquarium glass, the other fish...I decided the pleasure of having him as my tank's centerpeice wasn't worth the fear of getting up in the morning and finding dead fish....so I separated him. I think everyone's happier.

if you've already seen the swordtail bite him then it would be best to get him his own tank.
ST's are kinda agressive..especially to other males, maybe he's got the betta confused with another ST??
