emergency! need help euthanising!!

Melafix (and Bettafix, obviously) have been extensively tested on Bettas under all circumstances with no problems. I think the issue may be that Bettas are prone to bacterial infections, and the medication gets the blame if they unfortunately die.

Lilcavy, the chilling method of euthanasia is no longer considered humane, so you might want to look at alternatives.

In my experiences, bettas are more prone to fungus infections. Probably because fighting issues are a source of problems for them if you ever try to breed them.

Don't know how your betta did but I had a similar problem. Perfect betta when I went to bed betta with no fins at all when I woke up! He also was swimming weird and sideways. I put him in a jar with no meds just daily 100% water changes and he kept eating and kinda improving. He was then put in a 20g with baby platies who were too quick and kinda to large for him to eat. Long story short I have all my platy fry and one betta who is regrowing fins and swimming normally again. I also thought about euthanasia when I saw him becasue he looked so bad :( But decided to give him a chance and he wanted to live :) Hope your betta made it. if not im very sorry, just wanted to give my two cents worth that there is hope sometimes.

Soooooo nobody ever found out how this turned out I guess...
