with all that red clay I'd almost believe that you lived in Georgia ;-)

truly an excellent and inspiring project

with the egg crate on the top of the filter you can probably put plants there both to cover it and to eat up some of the nitrates
 
Yeah that is my plan - to plant the filter itself. I'm just not sure what to put in there quite yet. But that was the original intent with the eggcrate on top since the skippy filter doesn't actually ask for that. But I wanted something to be able to hold the plants in place, and figured that might be best.

And what about the septic tank?? LOL
 
Coming along nicely. It'll be summer too soon then theings can get cracking.
 
Rocks will start going in next weekend (3/11 delivery date), so that will really be the last "major" piece of the pond. Once that is complete, we'll be doing some plant work, and I am planning to buy the fish this weekend to start them in QT. We're getting there. :)
