empty 30 gal wanting to put corys or loaches help me Lupin

you sure its a pearl gourami and my betta is a wimp.

More applicable to Betta splendens. There are hundreds of species of bettas and several are peaceful by nature that they become suitable tankmates for most species of gouramis.
 
okay well i just speant 40 bucks on buying 8 kuhlis and 5 more neons.
when i was at my lfs the guy just throws the net in a tank overstocked of neons and throws the netfull of neons in the bag and says o well i got you one extra. and then when he was catching my kuhlis he would scope up a lot of gravel and then drop it out of the nets to "stir up the gravel" and to "scare the loaches out of hiding"
all my fish are out except for my center piece now! my pearl gourami hides behind the driftwood in my tank and my neons and kuhlis are fine
 
yea and he cant count either lol...any way i could make my wimpy pearl come out?

he only comes out to eat after the neons are scarred away from me and then i walk back and he shoots up and eats a little then goes back into hiding.
 
Gouramis are known to be shy around people, but eventually, he will see that you are the person who feeds him and get used to you. That's how my Dwarf Gourami acted for the first week.
