I just got a 75 gallon tank to add to my growing freshwater hobby, I just baught my filters but still dont know what to put in the tank. I am thinking about a large community tank. But I already have a 29 gallon community tank. I've been raising freshwater fish for about 4 years and wanna try something more exciting than an angelfish. I have thought about an Oscar or maybe even Frontosa. Or maybe even a cichlid tank.. Any ideas as to what I should put in this tank?

75 is a nice size you can do alot with it
do you like african cichlids? they are really colorful and easy to keep
one oscar in a 75 would be ok, it may limit you on what other cichlids you can keep but there are some smaller ones that will do just fine. some firemouths, severums, medium sized catfish.
have you looked in books or searched the internet for some fish you may like?

(how was that graphicdesing r ??? better?)

what about "diving" into a SW tank?

Hey Vader, your ok in my book, i was just giving ya some crap earlier.

I'd be more than happy to help someone set up a SW tank. I have really spent 100's of hours gathering info on this before i set up my reef. I could help with equipment, LR - you name it.

If you're thinking of SW Psy...I wouldn't try starting with a full reef system....start out with a FOWLR setup.....(FishOnlyWithLiveRock). A FOWLR is better than Fish only SW tanks...as the LR helps alot in filtering and you also get alot of cool critters..(maybe some not so cool..)...that come along with it.

Reef tanks can be very difficult and probably not a good idea for a newbie to the SW world....not to mention all the expensive lighting that must go along with a reef system. FOWLR tanks don't need any special amount of light and will do fine on whatever you have available.

The only hitch I can think of is the cost of the LR...you'd need about 1-1.5lbs per gallon and the cheapest I have seen is about 8$ per lb. You can cut the cost a bit by buying "base LR" for underneath the good stuff, where you won't see it.

You can always switch over to a reef tank once you get the hang of SW...and it would give you time to save for all that lighting you'll be needing....lol.

Anyway....have fun whatever you decide !! :D
