Empty tank syndrome?

take away the severum buddy and you will be set just remember parrots are mutt fish and they will mate with a totally different species so if you have two male parrots and two female convicts there may be some breeding and both can be quite aggressive when in breeding mode but if i had a pick i would do post #8 that sounds nice and you may be able to go with 3 parrots..

Is it wise to keep odd numbers of cichlids?

So out of these two, which would be best? Please note that I have very good filtration, actually twice as much as normal for a 55 gallon tank, so bioload should not be a problem:

Choice A
2 Parrots
2 Convicts
2-4 Firemouths
1 Zamora Wood Catfish (Recently moved from a smaller tank)
1 Rubber-lip Pleco

Choice B
3 Parrots
2-4 Firemouths
1 Zamora Wood Catfish
1 Rubberlip

I'm looking for a tank with the least amount of aggression with the most diversity.

both choices could work my friend and at the end it must be you that is happy its your hobby as for me choice B is what i would go with but in my opinion and with me being an old school hobbyist (i even had a old school tank with the slate bottom with black tar sealant when i was a kid) now thats old aye, but as for the parrot they are not natural and i would never own one but if you like them than go for it buddy and dont let anyone detour your thoughts if you like them than keep or add more of them after all they are a fish within the cichlid family also i feel the same with the genetic fouled glo-fish and painted-fish its just not natural, you say you have adequite filtration cool deal just make sure you compliment it with weekly or bi-weekly water changes and all should work out til they mature at the point when one gets really aggressive and just be observeant and ready to intervein with a removal, take care my friend and enjoy..

What is this "empty tank syndrome" you speak of?

I've never heard of it :lipssealedsmilie:

oh i forgot odd / even it really doesnt matter just remember parrots can get pretty big with a attitude problem in a SA/CA community theme its wise to stick with a certain gender either all males or all females due to breeding and territory issues..

hey Mokomon i believe the original poster of this thread was cracking a funny towards the result of not having enough fish in their tank..

also i never answered your question on how to add fish to an already established setup first theory is to take and rearrange your current decor but this works for africans and i am not sure if it works well with SA/CA species the other theory would be when you add the new comers you can take the current ones out and place them in a container for a few minutes and rebag them and let them acclimate again with a rearranged decor and if that is too much like work hehehe when you add the new fish you can feed the current fish when releasing your new fish..

cool i will check back in i am out to go get a few new tanganyika fish my buddy just called hehehe new fish i'm such a child later my friend..
