Endler fish being nibbled on.

i see... it does look like ich however i do have cherry shrimps in my tank and if i were to add NaCl into my tank will that hurt the shrimp in any way?

The shrimp should be OK. You need to treat for ich immediately usiing the heat and salt method. Your livestock should be able to handle a temperature of 85 or 86 degrees.
And you definately have too many fish in that tank.

:iagree:

too many fish - "nibbled fins" could be a result of fin rot/poor water quality rather than aggression.
do you test for ammonia/nitrite/nitrate?
water changes - how much and how often?
ich could also be a symptom of poor water.
on an additional note, you have too many males to females. males constantly harass the females to mate with them, and unless you have more females (at least 2 or 3 for each male), they are going to become stressed out and susceptible to disease and exhaustion.

The male / female thing that is a common problem with livebearers is not so much so with endlers. Endlers display and try to entice females to mate as compared to the usual approach with livebearers. The simple displaying that they do does not damage or stress the females like you have seen in mollies, swords, guppies and platies.
Obviously a big difference would still be a problem but not as big a deal as in others. My entire endler collection started out as exact 5 of each.I can no longer get even a good estimate but a SWAG puts it around 150 to 200 in a total of 70 gallons of species tanks. No, for endlers that is not too crowded but I need to move some soon because it will get to be too many.

i dont believe its my water... i have tested it before and everything was nearly perfect. 0 ammonia
0 nitrite
i believe it was 7.5 or 7 nitrate
and ph was in the range but i dont remember

however... today... when i woke up i head counted my seven enders left. they looked fine to me and i left my hood lamp on. as soon as i returned home several hours later, i saw one fish that was actually rotting from its tails and the other endlers were actually picking at it. i did not have a clue what was going on and i dont think bad water conditions can change and rot a tail within several hours espeically when i saw no indications of rotting that morning.

the things i have in the tank now are as listed:

1 dario dario
6 endlers, 3 males 3 females
3 ghost shrimps
5 cherry shrimps

if anybody knows what other kind of things that can go on the tank it would be most valued. thanks for the help.

water can change from day to day and hour to hour.
