Endler's Hybridizing with Blackfin Mollies (Poecilia sphenops)

Hi
Does any body know if the resulting fry are fertile ?? I would suppose that the only sure way to tell a hybid is with a DNA workup??
I have worked for many years with "Red wag swordtails " As far as I can tell this strain was the result of a cross between a green sword and a red form platy but in my own experience I find this hard to believe as I know there is no high percentage of sterility and since I've kept them since 1982 . Given a conservative 3 generations per year that would be a MINIMUM of 81 generations!! Though this had resulted in at least 30 color variations the majority are still RW swords lol.
To me that would prove that either they are NOT two species or the color was not arrived by hybridization. If the first thesis was true I should have either 100 percent green swords or red and green platies .
Another factor I've always been curious about is "Virgin birth" Is it possible for a fish to have offspring with only one set of chromosomes?? Also are there functional sex changes??. I do feel that they are born sexless and they become M/F at maturity.
I have seen alterations in the ration by altering the pH. More males with a higher Females with lower. Don't know about other live bearers but SWords? platies carry 58 chromosomes . !!! gary
