I have my little group of Endler's that I got from Mgamer2000 eons ago. The results of constant inbreeding are showing up. i.e. bent spine Common in livebearers that mate with the cousins and siblings and parents all the time.

Sooooo, I separated the males from the females. Males in one 10 gallon, females in another 10 gallon, and the remaining fry I left in the 10 gallon with the red cherry shrimp.

I plan to let the gravid females give birth then separate them from the fry. Does anyone know if Endler's have multiple pregnancies from one mating? I've heard of this before in guppies, mollies, platies, and swordtails, so I'm assuming they do.

I need to get some other pairs to mix it up a bit. Anyone have some they want to give me or trade for some of mine. I'm a bit low on males right now, so it will be a little while before I could trade pairs.

talk to MG?????

Yes, endlers can have several batches of babies from one breeding.

I've only seen them at one LFS ever here. I'm going to stop by there today and see what they have. If I remember correctly, they only had males (not a big deal since I have plenty females) and they were expensive.

You might want to contact Paul, Tampafishman1, for some of his wild type stock. They are very nice endlers and have a fairly diverse genetic makeup. He frequently advertises on Aquabid so you could find any of his ads there and do one of those contact the seller things to get hold of him. I have some from his wild type stock that still show a diversity that I would not expect them to. They are all from the same 4 pairs I got about a year and a half ago. There is nothing deformed or degraded about them and they do not all look alike even after all those many generations in my tanks.

yeah mine are all lookin the same to. im thinking about switching to something else bcuz im starting to get bored with them.
