I have a 120gallon tank, and I plan on using a standard 55 gallon for my sump/refugium. This is my first large scale SW so I dont really have any experience using sumps, fuges, or even skimmers for that matter. Which leads me to my question:
The standard 55g seems to be 48 x 12 x 21 or close to that so it will fit no problem, I just wonder will i have problems if I need to do maintenance on the sump, like clean the skimmer out an what not. Having never used a skimmer I have no idea how far they stick out, or how large the actual cup that I would take of even is. My stand is 60inches long and just under 28inches high, however there is some trim that could get in the way I suppose. From the bottom of the tank to the start of the trim is 24inches. I can take pics if this seems confusing. In your opinions, will I have enough room to do whatever it is i'd need to do, or should I reconsider and get a different sump? If so, what then?

You will just have to look at each skimmer to determing the max height required. On the AquaC Remora is 17.5" and on the Pro model is 21.5". The Urchin model (in sump model, one I would recommend for you) is 18" for normal, 20" for Pro model ($230.95).

There are many other skimmers out there that work just as good, or better, depending on how much $ you want to spend.

what is a good height that would work good for this space, or rather what is the max height i could get? im just in the beginning stages of skimmer shopping so i havent really looked at anything yet.
