So I just saw a commercial for "Mighty Putty" and it shows them plugging up a leak in a pipe with this stuff. So I had the idea, would it be safe to use if I ever had a tank emergency? I have a 180g tank and I've had nightmares of the thing springing a leak. My concern is what might transfer into the water and be dangerous to the fish. I would guess if the tank cracked I would need a few hours at most to buy some trash cans to hold the fish until I figured out what to do.

Any thoughts?

epoxy

If it says it can be used for potable water, then no it won't hurt your fish. I have used epoxy many times in my tanks and egg tumblers and have never had any fish loss due to the epoxy. Once it dries, the majority of epoxy, especially the stick kind is inert.

very good to know thanks:)

They make this stuff just for tank use. Go to any of the major online retail sites and type epoxy into the seach box and you will get several choices.

thanks for the link, its cheap enough so i think I'll just pick some up! Certainly worth the peace of mind
