Last summer I got bit 7 or 8 times by this little mean fella. He didn't like me moving him around to get pics.

I found this guy while I was backpacking last year. I got about 6-7 feet away from him for the pics. I didn't want to test how close I could get. :D

Yep - more than once

Me: grazed by a Ball Python during feeding, more thoroughly bitten on the neck by a Ca. King (2 horseshoe patterns left), finger bitten by a Garter snake, snake sent flying by my recoil - no blood.

Nearly any snake I can catch in the wild gets caught and a good once over. I've passed up catching venemous specimens twice - not worth the risk to me.

My old dog: 1 fang Copper head hit to the muzzle. Lots of swelling, no other ill effects.

dinged by many a garter snake and seen my share of Western Diamond backs.
king snakes too

When I get home I'll tell you my story of me being bit by a cottonmouth. Right now...off to Accounting II class....yay.

Yup, just rat and corn snakes. I caught a Pigmy rattler once and it did this freekin spin move right out of my hand , boy I jumped , didn't get bit :) Had a few other close encounters with rattlers also.

Heres a crappy vid. taken with my phone of my finger when I got snake bit. Heres my story.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WN1Fu0egZs

I was down on the river at a church event and some little kids found the snake and wanted to play with it...well since I've caught snakes before I was going to move it away from the popular swimming area...and I did. Well right before I let it go it reached up and tagged my finger. My finger started bleeding real bad. I had to swim across the river and walk up this huge steep hill to get to my mom. She freaked out but I didnt. I layed down on a park bench and mom got a park ranger. They gave me a oxygen mask and waited for the ambulance to come. That took 45min. because of where we were. About 20min. into waiting for the ambulance my mom told the park ranger that we were Air Evac. members. So they sent the Air Evac. helicopter too. The helicopter got close to the location the same time the ambulance got to me. The ambulance started a IV took me to the top of the mountain to where the heli. was. They loaded me into the heli and away we flew. I was in and out of consciousness but it was soo cool looking...you could see forever up in the air. They flew me to the hospital that took about 20 min. Then I sat at the hospital for 45min. before they put me back in the heli. and flew me to another hospital 2 1/2 hours away (30 or 45 min flying time). Finally after getting to that hospital they gave me as much anti-venom as they could. My finger, hand, and hole arm swollen up so bad I remember looking at my swollen arm and thinking..."god I'm glad I'm not fat...I like my skinny arms better" They gave me 10cc of Morphine every 2 hours? and 10mg of percocet every 1 hour plus a xanax when needed. I stayed in the hospital in the step-down unit for 5 days. The day I got out I had to go strait to physical Therapy because I couldn't bend my finger at all because of scar tissue. Actually I almost lost my finger because of how long it took to get anti-venom. I finally got movement in my finger but it is bigger than my other first finger and it also swells up when I use it alot (like to write). Its also somehow crooked.

In the crappy vid. you can see that black large bump on my finger? Thats a huge blister filled with puss. Besides my hole arm being on fire those 5 days the thing that hurt the worst was when they poped that blister and cut away all that black dead skin, leaving the meat exposed. He even had to cut some fresh skin around the dead skin. They put gause on the wound and rapped my finger. What hurt so bad was when they would have to change the guase on the blister because the blood had dried into the guase and when they pulled the gause off, it pulled all the dried blood off and make it hurt and bleed more. Eventually that hole area scabbed over. My finger's skin looks fine now. After the accident my fingernail had a indention in it...really wierd, but it grew out. I can see the two little scars where the fangs when into my skin.

The first heli. ride would have cost $12,000 and the 2nd $19,000 if we weren't Air Evac. members...luckly we were.

All in all...it wasn't a fun experience (except for the drugs) and I hope it never happens again. Sorry for the long post...I'm sure hardly any of you will read it haha.

That's a pretty crazy story. I'm glad you didn't lose that finger. All the more reason why you shouldn't mess with venomous snakes I guess. I'm one to talk; I've had some close encounters with Copperheads, Cottonmouths, Timber Rattlers and Pygmy Rattlers.
