I have 2 catfish and two pairs of swordtails. The catfish are about 4 in and the swordtails 2-2.5 in. Could the catfish have eaten the swordtail whole? There were no remnients of the body, she dissappeared!! I checked all along the floor and she didn't jump out when the lid was up. I don't know what happend. I feed the fish 2-3 times a day . Any ideas??
Yeah, the filter has a protector on the end of it so only small stuff can get in. I honestly have no idea what happened...the catfish is the ONLY thing I could think of!
 Now I don't feel so crazy!! I just posted almost the exact same thing about one of my platies last week!!! One of my females just dissapeared into thin air!! I turned on the light in the morning and everyone was accounted for and happy and healthy, that night at feeding time, no red platy!! There is no way she was in my filter, I only run a UGF in my 10g, everyone suggested her jumping out, well she is nooooo where to be found, I even went as far as to pull everything out of my tank, nowhere!! The only other thing in my tank is 2 other platies, 3 dwarf corycats and an apple snail. There must be a fish monster, similar to the sock monster!!! :joe:
[What type of catfish? I have a pictus and bumblebee cat that routinely take feeders. The pictus is about 6" and the bumblebee is probably 3-4".
Look at this pic
That bulge in his stomach is another fish of the same length. This fish is not mine it belongs to a waterwolves member.
Heh, I'm willing to bet that the original poster doesn't have a pair of Asterophysus batrachus without knowing it.
Though I doubt that's what you were really implying.
They are pictus catfish, and today I was checking them out and I noticed a black leaf hanging from his mouth, then I realized it was the male swordtail!
I had NO idea that a catfish could eat a fish more than half its own size!! Its a sad thing, they were beautiful Swordtails, Oh well, live and learn i guess...
