Looks kinda like a saltwater keyhole limpet shell. I've never heard of a fw limpet. Would be really neat if it were true!

you know what is better than finding some limpets in your tank? Tradeing some of them for cuttings of glosso, baby tears, naja sp., monoselium tenerum(pelia) and L. sesiliflora.

A guy over on Aquaticplantscentral.com offered a plant in exchange for some of them and he sent a couple plants of all those. Wooooooot

I have plenty of baby rams horns to know the difference. they are not rams horns nor have they started to look like snails of any kind.

They are a molusk with a flattened coneshaped shell that they live under. most people would find them to small to bother with but this guy was intrigued. Something diffferent, like some people's interest in oddball fish.

now if he finds he can grow them to some size say 1/4 to 1/2 inch across shells then they might be of interest to more people. I am just going to let them go in my tank and see what happens. I don't know if the cherry red shrimp I have ordered for the tank will bother them or not. I think I'll move some to some other tanks I have just for kicks though.

Why would anyone want limpets? I have them in all but one of my tanks and they are just flat-out annoying-looking. They don't cause any damage, but they are creepy.

I find they can be annoying in a planted display tank; and I like limpets.

The limpet in that photo looks like either Ferrissia rivularis or Ferrissia parallela (similar shell morphologies). Both are common. In either case they’ll grow no larger than a ¼ inch in length.
