Sigh... I have two planted tanks. The big one had a rediculous hair algea problem from when I had a ton of lights on it before getting CO2. It has less light now, and I got flourish excel to deal with the algea. Since my CO2 setup for the smaller tank is still a week away, I started using the Excel on the smaller tank as well.

The main plant in the tank is anachris... I have tons of it wrapping all around the rock and filling in the back. Well, I did... it all melted over the last two days. Is there anyway to save these plants, or should I just pull them out and start over.

Also, is actual CO2 injection going to have the same effect on Anachris... or is it just something specific in the Excel?

I believe it is just from excel, you could cut back on the dosage and it might live. or toss it in anothe tank.

Excel also kills hair algae.

Yeah... when i first came online to ask you guys what could be wrong, I looked on plant geek to see ifmaybe anachris is supposed to be super low light or something... and saw about the excel. Just wondering if the situation is salvagable or not... that's probably my favorite plant the way it grows like crazy.

Thanks for the responce.

If you put the anacharis in a different tank w/o Excel it might pull through.
Good luck!

So that's what happened to my Anacharis!! I figured it must have been the bleach dip, but it was only a 60 second dip in a 25:1 solution, so I was surprised. It's funny--both the Excel and Anacharis went in to fight green water, but the Excel killed the Anacharis which just fueled the green water. Sigh.

I use excel in my 5 and 10, but, i dose every other day. Both tanks have anacharis and are growing fine.

I dose my tanks very lightly with Excel, and anacharis goes nuts.

Seachem recognizes that Excel can damage Anacharis, and suggests the two not be used together. "Can" or "may" does not mean always will, but do imply that there is risk involved. I had to stop using Anacharis in some veggie filters when I started using Excel in those systems.
