Who can tell me which is the most quiet external pump for a closed loop system? My tank will be located in the living room and I sure don't need a lot of noise. Thanks

Well, I've got a 90 gal. bow front tank and I'll be adding in a DSB. The pump will be located within the tank stand with no more than a 4' lift. Not really sure what the best GPH turnover should be. 5 times?
If you're looking to have no powerheads in the tank, I'd personally shoot for more than 5x turnover. The exact amount kind of depends on what the stocking plans are for the tank, but 10x is generally considered the minimum in addition to the amount generated by the return pump from the sump (unless the return pump happens to be oversized).

Just for reference, I'm planning out a 120gal to upgrade my 55 reef. I'm looking at a Sequence Dart pump for my closed loop, 3600gph.
I've got 4 kroilia 4's with a wave maker pro from Red Sea. Single drain and 2 outlets. Similar to what Ace set up. I'll be working towards a reef tank.
If you're looking at softies, zoas, etc, 10-15x turnover will be good. If you're looking more at SPS, then 25-50x turnover should be your goal. If you are going to do a closed loop, I would make it big enough that you don't need any powerheads in the tank...but I hate looking at powerheads.
Do NOT run those Koralias on a Red Sea wavemaker, it will break them. Koralias are not meant to run on wavemakers like that one, they can not handle the constant on/off. Koralia now makes their own wavemaker (although rediculously expensive) as well as special "wave maker" powerheads. Just a heads up. I recommend you look into an OM-4way (Ocean Motion). They are 100x better than a SCWD like I went with, as long as you have 4 closed loop return holes.
As for a pump, I have always heard and seen good things with the sequence dart pump. I went with the Gen-X because of the price though and I am extremely happy with the output and noise level.
Are you talking about a closed loop pump or a return pump, big difference in output. Return pump you probably don't want more than 1000GPH on that, but closed loop you could easily do 2000GPH without problems as long as it is plumbed right.

I've got a RIO 3100 for the sump return. Should give me about 500 to 600 CFM head pressure. I'm looking to drill in for a closed loop system and just use the Korilias as is.
