I still have 40 lbs of agronite sand for our 84 gallon tank. The bed is about 2 inches thick. Should I slowly add it? Also, I am not familiar with siphoning sand. Every time I siphon 15 gallons of water I get about a pound of sand. Is there a website that can teach me correctly how to siphon.
PS - Should I discard the 4 lbs of sand from the tank and is now in the garage?

I dont think your going to get any benefit from adding the extra sand as its not going to be near a DSB..so, i would leave it out..

When your syphoning, there is nothing stopping you adding the sand that is collected back to the tank again..there is no special way to syphon..I presume your syphoning the sandbed to remove gunk, detrius etc etc??

Regarding the PS...Yes, i would discard it mate..
