will an eye wound on a fish completely heal or will it likely result in sight loss in that eye? What type of medication should one use for such an injury?

Melafix is a good product for eye cloudiness and abrasions.

You may also want to try a med call E.M. Tablets. Some stores don't sell it but most will carry it.. It is very good on eye wounds.

I recently had my clown knife injure his eye. It resulted in the complete loss of his eye. He seems to be fine, just has a big hole where his eye used to be.

Best thing you can do for an injury of that nature is to keep the water as clean as possible during healing.
Meds in the water are a great adjunct but without great conditions his progress will be slower.

My albino catfish lost an eye. My LFS told me that it was a result of a confrontation with another fish. Weird because all my fish are community. Like humans they lose the depth perception but retain the abitlity to see. I agree with Cearbhaill keep the water clean with weekly water changes.
