Fading plants?

So I am sure that I read the cause of this somewhere before but I can't remember. I have some riccia in a small 5 gallon tank. It was growing fine with some java moss. But now the riccia is starting to bleach and turn white. I have been a little slack on the ferts with that tank but what does a plant turning white generally mean a lack of.

Well that depends on how much I want them to grow. I use no ferts in my 20 gallon and everything is well balanced. But there are more fish and thus more food. The java moss in my 5 gallon needs to be cut down every week as it takes over the tank. BUt I will look into my calcium needs. Thanks.
