Fahaka puffer injured

LOL, that's OK, it's pretty much the only one in mine! ;)

Pardon me if i made it sound your opinion is wrong but merely trying to point out to wait until something develops. That is all:cheers:

You must like puffers as I do. I only have s/w Webb Burrs at the moment but experienced odd behavioral changes when added Mel to all possible puffers avail /certain f/w when Mel first came out, be it f/w, brackish.
Have you ever noticed any behavioral/symotomaticchanges from puffers upon dosing?
I wouldnt know if their ingredients have changed since then but it never gained my confidence back.

I have to agree totally with Pufferpunk. I have used Melafix in cases of significant injury that I was certain would likely become infected, and I have had excellent success.

Clean water and Melafix will help. I did daily huge water changes and added Melafix every day after the water change. It did hit the beneficial bacteria, which told me there was definitely some antibacterial action going on, but I managed it with water changes and the bb recovered quickly. My fish healed in spite of some very serious injuries.

You may accomplish this through keeping him in pristine water alone, but Melafix won't hurt and will most likely boost your puffer's chances for an uneventful recovery.

Pufferpunk is an expert in keeping Puffers, btw.

There is no antibacterial in Melafix. It's tea tree oil, a natural anticeptic.

There have been instances of it reducing O2 in a tank, which is why I suggested the air stone.

Havnt noticed any side effects of actual antibiotics Ive used (and some) on puffers (few diff species) but my puffers react to Mel when it first came out. Their respiration changed some for me to take an actions. Couldnt loose whole tankfuls of puffers.

Actually, extracted oil possess antibacterial properties rather than antiseptic if memory serves. A reason why pharmaceutical Co spend $$$$ in such research. Another reason to go Green as much as we can to save the Earth. I know its easy to say than actually carry out and I am as gulity as others.

Just fed my Webb burrs/Groupers/filefish/Rudders (jacks) part of my dinner. Raw bits of Chuck Steak saved before cooking. What can I do as I ran out of their main diets. Tomorrow will be Buffalo Chicken Wings?

Webb Burrs came up to top to say Thank You for a wonderful meal. I mopped the floor & Now I gotta take another quick shower before dinner.:rant2:

That's an awful diet for a puffer! Very fatty...

Question is which has more saturated/unsaturated fats, silversides/chuck steak?

I know, Iknow, but it's too cold to jump into ocean to catch live foods, spearing/silversides/shrimps/prawn/gigantic hermits/spider and or sand crabs, etc. etc. lol!
Hopeuflly boys p/u fresh krill from market soon. They collected these fish and decided to keep them so they should spend their $ for them.:grinno:

Where are you located? I buy all my larger puffer's foods at the local supermarket, in the produce section.

:OT:Although havnt been to Chicago since my youngest sibbling grad from UC and pursued Marine Bio/Ecology grad programs but You should be able to find all (well, most) your needs at Asian Market in Chicago, especially in chinese markets (cheaper than any other, imo). You name it from snails to crayfish. not .99/ea but per lbs. You should be able to find live weather loaches at single digit per lb.

Loved fishing(?) experiences by the Lake Shore Drive. Dont remember what I caught though. Must've been dead drunk while fishing!:OT:
