Fake plants near heater?

I have a 50W All-Glass Aquarium heater in my 10g ... can I put plants fake plants in front of it/near it?

You should be able to do this. Just make sure that you have something around the heater to allow the water to be moved throughout the tank. This way the heat will not just sit in one area of the tank.

should be ok. Heaters dont get that hot when they have moving water around them

The heater is positioned to the left of the outflow of the filter.

I completely hide my heater by wrapping some taller fake plants around it and have had no problem. It does seem like the 'heater plant' gets a bit more algea growth on it, but nothing serious. If you think about it, the heater cannot get really that hot since it is constantly transferring its heat to water. It would take a lot of heat to melt plastic, especially if it is in water.

Yes and No. The main thing is if the heater were to malfunction. It may then get to hot and melt any plastic touching or very close to it. Heaters are made to shut off at a certain temp but if they break that rule is out the windeow. You then need to replace it. I myself would be very leary of placing a fake plant right on the heater itself.
