I have 2 fancy goldfish male and female about 3 years old .The female has been upside down at the top of my tank during the day kind of just chilling out there. I have pleanty of water movement and a airpump for bubbles. The water chemistry is great and is maintained weekly. Can anyone tell me why he may be doing this he does not seem to be gasping for air? Does he have anything wrong?

a swim bladder problem, most likely. i'm not sure how to treat them, because they could be caused by a number of things. how big a tank do you have?

Swim bladder can sometimes be helped (if caught early) by massive, multiple water changes.
What size tank is this?
You say she only does this during the day, not at night?

yeah at during the day mostly at night she sleeps at the bottom if you walk over twards her she gets happy and swims around normally then later back near the top upsidedown almost like she is playing but I dont think she is playing.

20 gal is a very small tank for two goldfish, what kind of goldies are they?

Well, I hate to say it, but you are overstocked. Goldfish will get very large and will produce huge amounts of waste; they require a minimun of 15 gallons per fish. Yours are becoming stunted (internal organs outgrowing their bodies, a painful way to die) and wont last much longer. A 20 tall is even worse, as most fish need length, not height.
Are they the only fish in this tank?

My son has a fancy goldfish and he rests at the top of the tank too but not upside down. He just floats there sometimes and makes his fins flow kind of like he is waving at us. I have heard that sometimes fish with swim bladder problems have trouble swimming and sometimes swim upside down. I am still new at this hobby but I figured any info would be helpful to finding out what the problem is.

2 fancies would need 40g, preferably 55g, to be properly housed.
