My ph is high.
It's eating very well. I built up an supply of algae for it before I got it.
it still has plenty left. And of they type it eats. 'm working on getting it onto a prepared diet.
Very 'normal'; for twig that is.
Still moving around the tank just fine. I was going to see if it would let me pick it up to look at it and it (that didnt happen) swam away just fine.

What is high? Bring it down to a comfortable level, and it might improve rather as get worse.

8 Ish. It depends though.
I wont be able to get an RO unit for awhile. But I don't see how my ph could do anything now with out doing anything sooner.

What is the KH ? Do you use an airstone or have the filter outlet above water? You could filter over peat or leaves that will bring it down. I do see a pH of 8 or higher affecting its health.

You could also use (DIY) CO2 to get the pH down. You will have much better plant growth when the pH is lower. The brand shouldn't matter with peat. You could also use catappa or birch leaves, rooibos tea, but I wouldn't use anything off a coniferous tree.
