Whats a good, fast spreading low-medium light plant? I would like some suggestions that will not grow to tall for a 10 gallon tank and also some that will grow tall enough for a 55 gallon

what about dwarf hairgrass? That looks pretty cool.

Corkscrew vals are shorter.
Maybe so, but they will still outgrow a 10g. I had some in my 10g when I had no other tank to put them in and they were way too tall.

Fast spreading and small just don't mix well with aquatic plants IME.
Also, fast spreading and low light don't really mix either. ;)

Most stem plants will outgrow the 10g. For the 55g though, stems like Wisteria, Hygro, Rotala rotundifolia, and Bacopa are perfect.

That is why you trim stem plants. I have rotala in my ten gallon and it is doing fine.

Well, it's worth it.;) They do turn a nice pink/red when they get closer to the top. It is only a once a week thing, so it doesn't bother me much. Just cut and plant, it's not that hard. You could also cut it lower to give it some more time before it hits the water's surface.
