Fastlight81's 37g planted journal

looking for a new heater for my aquarium, i see a hydor theo 300 watt at a local chain store for 27 bucks. I used to have a hydor with no complaints. Anyone disagree with this heater, or would anyone recommend better. I want precision. not close but exact water temperatures...

My .02
I've used 2 Hydor 400W with no complaints on a controller, but I think most heaters will say accuracy +/_ 1 or 2 degree. Is there one that's exact? I would imagine a perfect heater if it exist won't be cheap. I'd rather have 2 incase one fails the fish will likely tolerate 1 or 2 degree difference in a specific range. That would be my small peace of advice. (don't listen to me I'm not very good at it....LOL)

I know I have read some that will keep heaters to a precise degree of I think +/- .5 degrees. I believe its a jager. I like the idea of inline heater but I worry about it restricting my flow to much

I have 1 300W Hydor inline on my 120gal on a 404's return and have a regular 300w inside the tank. The inline is so effient the one in the tank never goes on.

Drs foster and Smith is having a sale. (I love shopping with someone elses money...LOL)

Edit:
BTW I'm in NJ we have cold winters but the house temp never goes below 74 degree and the heater is set to 79 so it doesn't have to work that hard.

do you think it will restrict my flow on my c220 marineland filter any? the inline?

I don't have to much info in in that regard. I'm a bad example I don't do regular maintenance on my 404 but I've gotten better. The only media I have in my filters are Lava rocks and the prefilter. The 404 drives my inline and at 25w UV but isn't plugged in it's a lot of tubing to get through. Hopefully some else can help answer the question.

Dang, that growth is crazy! Looks great, the anubias nana was the way to go. Congrats on the discus, looking forward to more pics when they are better adjusted...

Ha must be the movie...I have never seen the tv series. Didn't even know there was one!

Oh my, where did I put my cane?

haha. need a cane and forgot where you left it!!!!:lol2:

Well I did a plant trim this evening after lights out. My discus are still very very timid. They arent eating. :( As for the trimming, cut down the hygropholia bold and postegemon yatebaneaus(as always not exact spelling and to lazy to look them up) moved my 3 stems of nesea trifolia to the back and brought my rotala nanjenshan in front of them. They were kinda getting lost. Also trimmed the linderia india and moved them a tad.(these are becoming a favorite!) I cut my hyptis in half. we shall see what happens there.

pogostemon erectus and rotala mexicana goisa. not dead, but not growing.

staurogyne bihar...well is gonna be huge. man I need a 90gal!

Had a casualty this morning when I woke up, and the second one died this evening. My last discus isnt doing so hot either. I think they just stressed them selves out to the point of death. I am doing the best I can for them, but shoot when they dont eat for 4 days., and literally freak out when I get home from work and dart everywhere...just dont know what to do. I know it isnt my water parameters.
