Fastlight81's 37g planted journal

WOW, sorry to hear the Discus aren't doing well it is heart breaking I know. I kept these majestic fish on more than one occasion and the easiest way I found to entice them to eat was live food. Black worms, blood worms, brine shrimp pretty much anything. The problem in a community of course is having to compete with other fish they are not aggressive feeders.

Good luck!!!

The only other fish in there are scavengers and algae eaters....they didnt eat cause they were too scared of me.

My discus didnt make it. I really thought I would do better with them than I did. I don't feel terrible though as my lfs, quit selling the shippment he got in because he had the same problems. Now I am looking at my fish tank and wondering what in the world I should put in there? I want something that will be active and not stay in the plant work like my pandas and otos do all day. Im at a loss.

I'm so sorry about your discus! It's tough dealing with any fish loss...

As for suggestions, I'm not sure but how about a single angel?

How many pandas do you have? Confidence in numbers! For your tank you could go 8-10 pandas if you choose just a centerpiece fish.

Thanks fishycat. It was tough watching them slowly pass away, and feeling helpless. As far as the angel, IDK I have an angel in my non planted community 30 and he just kinda hides till its dinner time, then he is first up to eat lol. I have neons in my planted, and I really like the way they are always moving around. I thought a big school of like 20 in my tank. That might be really neat. I also have a breeding pair of german blue rams, that I thought I could put in there, but then I fear my rcs would go in to hiding. I have never kept cardinals, but my lfs doesn't have those. Neons, would probably best stand out. Shoot Id probably even see some spawning going on, with all the hc and plants.
Any other suggestions? Something different, out of the ordinary?

I have 8 neons in my 20H with a big ol' red veiltail betta - looks awesome with the red & blue of the neons. I like your idea of 15-20 neons as the "focus"!

Why do the neons look so big? Camera sucks lol, and it bleaches out the colors too.So I fell to my original idea. A schooling fish. My good ol neons from my spare tank. Boy do they seem to love it. I have never seen their colors so vibrant. I also put my breeding rams in there I want to see if I will see free swimmers in that tank. Kinda more of an experiment than anything.
Im not sure what caused it, but my staurogyne bihar went nuts this week. Easily put on 6 inches of huge growth this week. I also trimmed and replanted a lot of plants. My plants are doing great and algae, is taking a huge hit. My microsword that wouldnt grow because of algae is now shooting out runners!!! Guessing I am seeing roughly .75inches of growth from most plants everyday. Except for my ludwigia cuba, pogestemon erectus, and rotala macrandra japan.

Take note the co2 scum has been removed immediatly after the picture. I had diy co2 trouble this week.

Wow, looking good!! I love that bacopa/moneywort, but what is on the right - vals? Super gorgeous dark green!
