That would probably be your best bet on discovering your guys identity. I'm sure there are others out there who know more about them than us and they can provide you with that info.

lol since someone brought it back up i guess im voting and saying and i dont care what u say lol i would say otto because they stay small and eat like crazy

I voted for the pleco. I have a 2" rubberlip plec in my 10g-soon to be 29 gallon and along with my amano shrimp they keep the place spotless! Unlike my worthless snail, all she does is steal cucumber from the pleco, and lay eggs like no other mother! I'm so sick of scraping snail eggs off my hood, lol.

Umm, I personally consider all the Locariids as members of the Pleco family. As such, according to Planet Catfish classification, that means Oto's and Ancistrus Plecos(bushyNose) are both plecos. Hence, its either Plecos, snails or other. I voted Pleco, as my Otos and fancy Plecos are the best. My mystery snails go over the glass floor and walls pretty well, and the shrimp just become food to the others. I do have to say I kept getting an algea that the plecos woulkd not touch. I put my extra male guppies in the tank, and now it sparkles. So I'd say its a TEAM effort. :^)

I voted other, because they all have their place in tanks depending on the stocking. I have Amecas, Other Limias, Otos, SAEs, BNs, shrimp, and a Rainbow shark (which suprisingly does graze quite a bit) in different tanks.

My favorite?
SAE's, Garra flavatra, hillstream loaches, otos, Sturisoma panamense, Jordanella floridae, Ancistrus sp. and many more.

I don't buy them for the sake of eliminating algae though.
