It's the lighting. It is in the darkest part of the tank which get hits by a fair amount of actinic. I used a spot strobe about three stops below what should of been used placed directly above the mushroom at the waterline. Light and the lack thereof is what creates shape and texture in photography which gave this unique look. It looks very similar in person color wise, just not quite as "velvety".
This wasn't color enhanced in any way from the original negative.
Taken with a flash, this has grown from a 1/4 inch by 1 inch frag. The second shot is a macro taken with a flash. I guess those little flowers it has is how it got its name.
