Favorite Place to Buy Fish Supplies/Fish

What is your favorite place to buy things for your Fish? I preferably like Pet Supplies Plus (Its an Eastern Chain) as they are really nice and helpful. Plus their employees actually have fish experience.

My Grade for them

Cleanliness : A

Fish Captivity: B+ (Their feeder tank is clean but overstocked. The average Feeder tank)

Diversity: A- (I would have said B, but they recently have gotten REALLY exotic fish. Clown Knifes, Arowanas, Some cool Catfish.

Employees: A (Good skill, helpful, Lets you net the fish you want, experience)

Prices: B+

Atmosphere: Homely.


LFS around me:

Fish Doctor: Havent been there, Pet Supplies Plus employee told me that was a good place to sell off grown fish. Huge tanks (200 gals and up), diverse.

Petco: Was good, but I hate it now. Lack of diverse fish, employees don't take kids seriously, floor is sometimes unmopped.

next is petlant-prices omg half the fish are under 1.00

My Favorite place is Ocean Blue in Orange, California. They have a ton of freshwater fish and plants despite the name. they have some of the most awesome colored German Blue Rams i have ever seen. I just wish i would have seen this place before i bought my GBR's.

i found lots of great fish at my local walmart but you gotta catch them on a good day usually the fish dont look to good but i got my fancy guppies there and the guy who helped me was nice. i usually got to petsmart but they have the same breeds all the time and not such healthy looking ones.

Diversity: B+ (its just an avg. PetSmart selection...)
Employees: B

Diversity: B+ (its just an avg. PetSmart selection...)

Fish Captivity: D+ (have dyed fish, automatic grade level lower IMO)
Diversity: C (this place doesnt even have angels on a regular basis)
Employees: C- (not always willing to get you the fish you want.)
Prices: F (most equipment, tanks, etc. twice as expensive as large chain prices, even when on sale and the large chain prices are not web-store price-matched...deserves an F because although the fish are a bit less expensive, their guarantee is awful)

Singly Owned LFS 2
Cleanliness : B- (barley room to walk in this store. not necessarily dirty but VERY cluttered)
Fish Captivity: A-
Diversity:
FW;C- (have dyed fish, and not that big of FW selection)
SW; A+ (their SW selection is amazing.)
Employees: C+ (we wont get into this one...)
Prices: C- (fish prices about 50% more, and not even superior quality animals)

Singly Owned LFS 3 (acctually a 2 store partnership)
Cleanliness : B
Fish Captivity: C+ (dyed fish again...)
Diversity: B+
Employees: B-
Prices: C+ (fish pricesmost about the same as Petsmart, but guarantee is horrible. supplies twice as much)

I could grade even more critically if i wanted...

Pet Goods has the most complete supply section around me. Well stocked, good prices and helpful employees.

I shop around for fish.

I usually buy all of my supplies from Petsolutions.com and Drsfosterandsmith. I get my fish from a couple average stores here.

Our Pet Supplies Plus is really dirty/run down and the two times I've been in the employees were downright surly.

I typically get my supplies at PetSmart because the local one always matches their internet price and I save a ton of money. I buy my fish from Tropic Isle Aquarium. It's the best I've been able to find nearby. The employees are really nice and very patient with me!
