This store is fish heaven. The fish quality and diversity is astonishing. There is not one fish I could want that is missing. They have piranha, discus, arowana, africans, 10 types of pleco, etc....ITS THAT AMAZING. Only bad part is that the tanks are a bit pricy, but I build tanks anyway, so I could care less.
 
I'm currently mad at pet supplies plus. Their crappy guppies killed my petsmart trimac (low grade flowerhorn.) I should have QT'd them longer.

I love my local petsmart. I never see dead fish and they have a really good selection for dirt cheap.
 
I like Monfort aquarium in cincy ohio. They always have the fish no one else does, but Jack's Aquarium and Pets has good fish, and good prices, and most of their employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. The Petsmart in Western Hills is great, but the one in Colerain, not so much.
 
I just went in a Pet Supplies Plus this weekend (unfortunately it was no where near my house) and was very impressed with it. I agree with DarkDH, Petco doesn't take us kids that come in seriously, when half the time we are more educated than them.

I asked a simple question: Do you guys match online prices? I got a 20 minute lecture on the cost of shipping. And the lady lecturing me was REALLY ugly. So ugly that I was looking for a price tag on her.
Prices: C
$30 for a 50w Stealth Heater? No thanks.

I called and asked them for price match first and they said "absolutely." So I went in there and got a visitherm stealth heater for 18.99 and it was 35.99 in their store lol. I also got a $40 powerhead for $20. Next time I am going to stack the items with in store coupons. The person at the register was like what the hell how can we sell this stuff for this? I was like I know, the sad part is I can get it online for cheaper I just don't feel like waiting.
 
I've found Big Al's usually has the best price on supplies and equipment, and they are quite helpful & reliable. I too take advantage of Petsmart's price matching now and then.

Sadly, I have only found one LFS around me that seems to have both healthy fish and a good variety of fish - Atlantis Aquarium in Marietta, GA. There is a Petland by my office that has a big variety of fish, but just about every fish I've ever bought from them has died - I should have known that was why they do not provide refunds on fish :(

Now, there are several SW only stores, and I've heard that they are pretty good from my reef-keeping friends. Just a lack of good FW stores.

Mostly because of my frustration over not knowing where the good stores are, I created a google map mashup deal (link in sig) to point out where all the LFS' are.
