My favorite top dwellers are upside down cats. The two I own enjoy my planted tank. I keep the lights off all day in the summer and in the afternoon when it is wintertime (the tank is next to a sunny window), so the plants can get natural light without it being too bright for the USD's to become active in the late afternoon.
Zebra danios are another top dwelling favourite.
