Feather Dusters seem to be a popular topic lately, only I haven't been able to solve my problem doing searches.

I bought a large feather duster yesterday, and when the LFS sales person took him off his rock, the duster came out the bottom of his tube half way. LFS guy said he would either go back in, or leave his tube all together. After acclimating him, I put him in my tank, he was still half way out the bottom. My watchman goby decided the duster was put in the tank for a snack, grabbed him, and tried to take him into his den. The duster went back up into his tube, and I put him on top of my live rock. He survived the night, but left his tube this morning. Again, my goby thought he was breakfast, and tried to drag him ino his den. I took the duster and put him in a breeder net to keep him away from my goby (thanks to some info I read on here!)

I talked to another LFS, who told me to bury my duster in my DSB, up to his crown. So now I don't know what to do. He needs time to grow a new tube, and I need to keep him safe from my goby. What should I do with him?

TIA!

Put himin the sand. He will grow another tube.

Thanks guys. I appreciate you taking the time to answer me. I rearranged my live rock a bit, and placed him in the sand to give him a little bit more of a cover. We will see if he makes it through the night.

When I was at the store I also bought another piece of cured live rock, and I was thinking at the time that I should have just bought the piece that he was attached to, even though it wasn't nearly as pretty. Guess I learned my lesson there...

Is that typical of gobies to mess with feather dusters? I couldn't find anything on the web to suggest they aren't compatible.

Yeah toss in a few flinstones and your good to go!!!!!

Well, the feather didn't make it. I buried him in the sand, and tried to put some smaller rock around him to protect him a bit, but this morning he was in a few pieces. Don't know it the goby got him, or if he died and the crabs got him. When I tried to get him out, he didn't stay together very well, so the goby was able to get a few pieces of him then.

I am going to wait until I get a bigger tank before I get anymore, and next time I will get the rock he is attached to.

Thanks for you help!
